Marine Drive at dawn
On my first day in India, I stayed at the YWCA in downtown Mumbai. Too excited to stay in bed, I got up about 5am and headed down to the waterfront promenade known as Marine Drive, one of Mumbai's hallmarks. It was full of people jogging, strolling, or just sitting and watching the view of the Queen's knecklace, as it is called; the bright lights which ring the bay.
After about half an hour, the lights went out the day had arrived!
